The Autobots or the Cybertrons are the protagonists in the Transformers series. Optimus Prime is their leader, but there have been other “Primes” who have led the Autobots like Rodimus Prime. They are constantly battling with the Decepticons. The Autobots are shown as the descendants of a robot line that were originally designed as consumer goods. Here are their members:
1. Optimus Prime
His alternate mode is a Freightliner COE Dual-Axle Semi Truck with Trailer. Known as Orion Pax in his younger days, he was given the Autobot Matrix of Leadership, which was how he became Optimus Prime. As the Autobots’ leader, he always made sure that they were able to stop the Decepticons whenever they attack.
2. Wheeljack
His alternate mode is a Lancia Stratos Turbo. He is the resident gadgeteer and inventor of the Autobots.
3. Bumblebee
His alternate mode is a Volkswagen Beetle. He is often called the “smallest of the Autobots” and is often useful for those missions when a smaller bot is needed.
4. Cliffjumper
His alternate mode is a Porsche 924. He is always reminded by Optimus Prime to be more careful as he is impulsive.
5. Prowl
His alternate mode is a Nissan 280ZX Police Car. He is the right hand guy of Optimus Prime as he has proven to be a competent and loyal tactician.
6. Jazz
His alternate mode is a Porsche 935 Turbo. He can disorient enemies using a loud sound. This connoisseur of music has also been referred to as the right hand guy of Optimus Prime.
7. Sideswipe
His alternate mode is a Lamborghini Countach LP500S. He is very courageous, but can also be careless. He has a tendency to use dirty ploys to win. He has the ability to fly momentarily because of a rocket pack that he carries.
8. Ratchet
His alternate mode is a Nissan Onebox Vanette Ambulance. He is the mechanic and resident doctor of the Autobots.
9. Ironhide
His alternate mode is an Ambulance but in the movie he turns into a GMC TopKick 6500 pickup truck. He is tough, but sometimes impulsive. He is the one who often calls for a fight versus the Decepticons. He also has a tendency to engage in battle despite the orders of Optimus Prime.
10. Hound
His alternate mode is a Mitsubishi J59 Military Jeep. He is the resident detective of the Autobots. He has the ability to throw enemies off guard through holograms.
11. Mirage
His alternate mode is a F-1 Ligier JS-11 Formula-1 racer. He has more interest to enjoy life rather than to fight. He often wishes to just return to Cybertron. He has the ability to become invisible to spy on the Autobots.
12. Trailbreaker
His alternate mode is a Toyota 4WD Hilux. He has the ability to produce impenetrable forcefields.
13. Sunstreaker
His alternate mode is a Super-Tuned Lamborghini Countach LP500S. He has an obsession with personal appearances.
14. Bluestreak
His alternate mode is a Nissan 280ZX. Although he is a skilled shooter, he hates war and has a tendency to babble non-stop.
15. Windcharger
His alternate mode is a Pontiac Firebird. He has a tendency to be a little impatient. He is able to manipulate big objects using the powerful magnets he carries in his arms.
16. Brawn
His alternate mode is a Land Rover. Although small, he is usually referred to as the toughest of the Autobots.
17. Huffer
His alternate mode is a Mini Diesel Truck. He is usually the first one to express his insecurity in battle.
18. Gears
His alternate mode is a 4WD Off-Road Pickup Truck. He is usually seen as an unpleasant character. He can see things at night using an infrared beam.
