While trying to guide the ship to safety, the Thundercats are attacked
by an old Thunderian enemy aboard their ship, the Plun Darr, who are
looking to steal the Eye of Thundera. They make several attempts to
obtain the Eye but the Eye it self is used by the Thundercats to drive
the enemy back. During the battle, the Thundercat ship becomes damaged
and is running low on fuel, so Jaga and the other Thundercats make a
decision to head towards the nearest inhabitable world. With the ships
navigation damaged, Jaga decides to pilot the ship while everyone else
goes into suspension tubes. Jaga pilots the ship for a long time, and
finally nears their destination, but as much time has passed, Jaga is
now old and unable to continue. He then places the ship on auto pilot
so that the ship will land at it's destination, and at that moment Jaga
turns into dust.
The Thundercat's ship crashes on the planet Third Earth, where Lion-O and his nanny are the first to escape their suspension tubes, at which point they both realize that Lion-O has aged somewhat while in suspension. Soon after their arrival on Third Earth, the Lion-O and Snarf are attacked once again by mutants from the Plun Darr. These Mutants have been searching for the ship all of this time so that they can obtain the Eye of Thundera. After being attacked, Lion-O uses the power of the sword to make all of the other Thundercats wake up. The villains are overwhelmed and they go back to their spaceships and leave.

With Jaga now gone, Lion-O takes over as leader of the Thundercats and
helps to build a new lair on Third Earth from parts of their ship. The
Mutants, while exploring Third Earth, encounter the ancient wizard Mumm
Ra, who joins their effort in the war against the Thundercats.
