As with any good animated series, there are always bad guys. In Voltron, there are a couple of them. We must admit that if not for them, the legacy of Voltron might not be as grand.
Prince Lotor
His Japanese name is Prince Sincline. Prince Lotor is the evil and arrogant son of King Zarkon. He hates his father a great deal and secretly wishes to take his place in governing the planet Arus, along with the Princess Allura, whom he has developed quite a strong, obsessive attraction for. Lotor is very powerful, sly, smooth and smart. He radiates force and pure evil. In the Go Lion series, Sincline\'s great obsession with Farla (or Princess Allura) was based on the fact that she bore a resemblance to his mother, who was killed by Emperor Daibazar or King Zarkon. It was a good example of an Oedipus complex.
King Zarkon
His Japanese name is Emperor Daibazar. King Zarkon is Planet doom’s Supreme Ruler. He always uses others, especially his son Lotor, as the fall guys for his failures. He is assisted by Prince Lotor, who is his son; and Haggar, who is a wicked witch. Together they create and send "Robeasts" to overcome Planet Arus and destroy Voltron. King Zarkon\'s mission is to take over the universe. Unfortunately for him, no matter how hard and how many times he tried, the Voltron Force always manages to defeat him. He is very crafty, and he does not easily give up, despite the clumsiness of his minions.
Haggar
Her Japanese name is Honerva. Haggar is the evil witch who is responsible for creating the “Robeasts” that Voltron goes up against. Although she was good and beautiful before, she is now wicked and ugly. She is known for using dark magic to hypnotize people. She can also foresee the future and she uses that to advise King Zarkon and Prince Lotor when to attack planet Arus. She also owns a blue cat, known as “Coba” or “Kitty” that assists her by snooping around the Voltron Force.
Commander Yurak
His Japanese name is Shireikan Zadak. Yurak was King Zarkon’s fleet commander. His task was to take over and obliterate planet Arus, but has failed over and over again. After too many failed attempts, King Zarkon banished him. After that, Prince Lotor turned him into a “Robeast” and later got killed by Voltron.
Merla
Merla is known as the Queen of Darkness. She has her own empire in the another Quadrant. She also wanted to become the ultimate ruler of planet Arus so she planned to kill Allura. She gets married to Prince Lotor but later gets divorced. Although she started out as an antagonist, she eventually sees the light and joins the good side.
